![]() July 3rd, 2001 - The News Some years ago there was a serious train accident at Brooklyn in N.S.W. At the time my elder daughter, Candace, used to catch this particular train. I saw the news flash one Sunday evening at 6.30 p.m. right at the end of the news. I sat back in my chair, and felt she was safe. Even so, I was up to listen to the 5 a.m. news next morning. That night I saw the same news Reader (Roger Climpson) wearing the same outfit and repeating the news flash I'd seen the previous evening. It's important to note that back then (the early 1990s) the weekend news reader was Ross Symonds - but I didn't think about that at the time - anyway I really sat up when he said 'AT 7.15 P.M. LAST NIGHT ... BLAH BLAH about the Brooklyn train smash. It was quite a shock to realise I'd seen Monday nights news on Sunday night three quarters of an hour before the accident had even happened. Needless to say my daughter was safe and had missed the train as she was running late having been held up all over the place... Helen Benbow |
